Related Faciotech Services
Faciotech is proud to announce a new partnership programme with universities across Ghana, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical skills that the technology industry demands. This initiative represents one of the most significant investments in tech education we have undertaken since the company was founded in 2015.
The Skills Gap Challenge
Ghana's tech industry is growing rapidly, but many graduates struggle to find employment because their academic training doesn't fully prepare them for real-world projects. Employers consistently report difficulty finding candidates with hands-on experience in web development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and digital marketing.
According to industry reports, over 60% of tech companies in West Africa cite the skills gap as their primary hiring challenge. University curricula, while strong on theory, often lag behind the rapidly evolving tools and methodologies used in professional environments. Students graduate with solid fundamentals but limited exposure to production-level codebases, client projects, and the collaborative workflows that define modern software development.
Our Programme
The Faciotech Tech Skills Programme is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience that complements university coursework. Here is what participating students can expect:
- Hands-on Workshops: Monthly sessions at partner universities covering web development, hosting management, security best practices, and business technology. Each workshop includes a practical project that students complete during the session.
- Mentorship: Students are paired with Faciotech professionals who guide them through real projects over a 3-month period. Mentors provide code reviews, career advice, and insight into how technology companies operate day-to-day.
- Internship Pipeline: Top-performing students receive priority consideration for internship positions at Faciotech and our partner companies. Several of our current full-time team members started as programme participants.
- Free Resources: Students get access to hosting accounts, development tools, and online learning resources at no cost. This removes the financial barrier that often prevents talented students from building portfolio projects.
- Industry Certification Prep: We help students prepare for widely recognised industry certifications in areas like cloud computing and cybersecurity, giving them a competitive edge when entering the job market.
Partner Universities
We are initially launching with three partner institutions in Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, with plans to expand to additional universities throughout 2026. Our selection criteria focus on institutions with active computer science, IT, or engineering departments and a demonstrated commitment to practical skills development.
Each partner university receives a dedicated Faciotech liaison who coordinates workshop scheduling, student mentorship pairings, and internship placements. We also provide guest lecture opportunities for faculty members interested in incorporating industry perspectives into their courses.
Impact So Far
Since the programme's soft launch, we have engaged with over 150 students across our initial partner institutions. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants highlighting the mentorship component and access to real-world projects as the most valuable aspects of the programme.
